Welcome to “PHIL’S PLACE” on “GULL LAKE” Richland, Michigan
Pristine “GULL LAKE” according to “NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC” is one of the premier inland lakes in the United States. Underground springs and four different streams feed this crystal clear 2,030 acre body of water, which measures approximately 6.5 miles long and over a mile wide, with a maximum depth of 110 feet. “GULL LAKE” has held a special attraction for people dating back well over 120 years. Early visitors could arrive via electric powered “Inter-Urban” railroads at “Yorkville Station” then proceed to private resorts, hotels, or cottages on “Steamboats” such as the “Searchlight” ( a double-decker that held up to 250 people and a band). Many of the older homes still remain, the large island has several beautiful “Victorian style” examples. Today, “GULL LAKE” offers many modern-day activities like pleasure boating, water skiing, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, sail-boarding, jet skiing etc. If more relaxed activities are your pleasure, then pontooning, canoeing, watching spectacular sunrises from the great view here at “PHIL’S PLACE” or taking in the colorful and serene weekly sailboat races, enjoying the many ducks and birds, or just basking in the sun might be for you. “GULL LAKE” is a great fishing lake with 55 species including: Bass, Pike, Bluegills, Perch, Crappie, Trout and Salmon. The southwest end of the lake has a sandbar 3’ to 5’ deep where many people gather in all sorts of watercraft to have fun, swim and socialize. A full service Marina is located at the southeast end of the lake as well as an Ice-cream Parlor that is accessible by boat. Across the road is “Gull Lake View Golf Club and Resort” consisting of 5 Championship 18 hole Golf Courses. “Lady Gull Diva” a large double deck boat is available for Party or Dinner Cruises. Pontoon and Personal Watercraft rentals are also available. A park with picnic areas and Kellogg Biological Center are on the eastside of the lake. At the north extreme is a large public landing with bath-houses and picnic areas. “Gull Lake Country Club” is along the western shoreline and offers sailing, a yacht club, a world class Golf Course and racquet sports. “PHIL’S PLACE” is located about midway on the western shoreline in a quiet residential neighborhood called “HIGHLAND PARK” You can wake up to the beautiful sunrises from the easterly facing Master Bedroom with Balcony on the 2nd floor or from the spacious Living Room on the main level, both have wall to wall views of this quiet cove opening out into the center of this beautiful blue-green colored lake. “PHIL’S PLACE” is a super clean year-round 1,800 s.f. home, the lower level features a large open “Great Room”effect in the Living Room / Dining Room Area, which has wood deck and beam ceilings with walnut paneled walls to create a lodge type atmosphere. In the center is a large, magnificent, “exotic stone” double sided fireplace with gas logs. The Formal Dining Area contains one side of the fireplace and an entertainment center. All of the lower level is finished off with new off-white Berber carpet and matching custom blinds and window treatments, except for the large Kitchen and Pantry Area, which have slate tiled floors leading to the “Retro-style” ceramic tiled Full Bath with walk-in-shower. The upper-level has Oak Hardwood floors in all of the Four Bedrooms and Small Office Area. The “Retro-style” Full Bath has ceramic walls and floor, a sunken, heated tub and wall-mounted toilet. Every room is completely furnished to include all bedding, towels/linens, pots, pans, dishes, utensils etc. A big-Screen T.V. with VCR/DVD player and component stereo are included on the lower level. Outdoor living areas include 2 Upper Balcony Decks, 2 Lower Decks with “Tiki” torches and outdoor lighting, gas grill, and a winding path along Perennial Gardens to the upper level of the property.
